In November of 2010, George was named to the Board of Trustees of the local Upstate New York/Vermont chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
From an article in The Record:
With a mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families, LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer.
As a result of his nomination, LaMarche decided to use his recent participation in the “ING Rock & Roll Philadelphia Half-Marathon” to raise more than $1,000 in donations for LLS. “I’m excited at the opportunity to work with so many talented people on the LLS board and grateful to the friends and family who supported my efforts to raise money for an important cause,” said Mr. LaMarche. “Leukemia is the number on cancer killer of children and as a father of two beautiful daughters, I wanted to use this opportunity to raise money that will be used to help families dealing with this disease.”
