Speeding is a violation of N.Y. Vehicle and Traffic Law § 1180.  A speeding ticket can be issued in several ways:

  • Driving too fast for road conditions (Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent).
  • Driving over a posted speed limit.
  • Driving over a posted speed limit in a school zone or restricted area.
